Cody and I have been reading various Star Wars backstory books. It started with a Boba Fett book he found at Half Price Books over a year ago and has expanded from there. We are currently reading Legacy of the Jedi and Secrets of the Jedi by Jude Watson.
This is the first of the books we have read in which there are undercurrents, hints, wisps, of romantic desires between characters.
Cody is not impressed.
This morning we finished reading a chapter where Obi-Wan and Siri make the emotionally charged decision to follow the path of the Jedi and turn their backs upon the feelings they have for each other. Jedi, apparently, cannot be in relationships.
It was not a long chapter. Cody thought it too long.
When I turned the page to show Part Two: Twenty Years Later, Cody muttered, “Finally! Maybe now they can get on to another mission.”
To an eleven year old boy, missions to fight the Separatists greatly out weigh boring old love.
